“Once I reach my goal, then I’ll be happy.” This thought has flooded most, if not all, of our minds before. The problem with a goals-first mentality is that you’re continually putting happiness off until the next milestone. This will cause you to feel like you're not complete until you achieve that goal. If you were able to look into the future after you had achieved the goal then you'd see that you feel almost the same as you did before you achieved it. I’ve slipped into this trap so many times. Until I realized the true reason why I was doing the things I was doing, happiness was always something for my future self to enjoy. Don't let the goals and accomplishments you have determine your happiness, let them boost it!
Goals are good and achieving them is great, but don't let them dictate your happiness!
